What is Dotonbori?
Dotonbori is the name of Juo District in Osaka, Osaka, Japan, and is also an abbreviation for the Dotonbori River flowing north of the area.
Dotonbori used to be a theater-intensive area, but now it has become a place where night culture and entertainment facilities are concentrated. There is a Dotonbori cruise that guides the river on a cruise boat, and there is a passenger boat that takes you from Sinsaibashi to Osaka Castle.
Nearby, there is a famous grocery store called Don Quixote. In Don Quixote, located on the Dotonbori River, the building has a Ferris wheel that provides a view of the Dotonbori River. Although there were many incidents in the past, it resumed operation again in 2018.
It is no exaggeration to say that all Japanese foods known by name (Oconomiyaki, Dessert, Takoyaki, Skiyaki, Shabu Shabu, etc.) are available through Dotonbori and Sinsaibashi.
